FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BMR Drivers Kick Off 2014 Season With NASCAR K&N East Season Opener At New Smyrna

NEW SMYRNA, Fla. (Feb. 16, 2014) – Patrick Staropoli led the way among three Bill McAnally Racing drivers as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East launched its 2014 season with its inaugural race at New Smyrna (Fla.) Speedway on Sunday night.

Staropoli came home 11th in the New Smyrna 150 presented by JEGS, with BMR teammates Brandon McReynolds and Nick Drake finishing 14th and 15th, respectively.

McReynolds had led the way among the trio earlier in the day. He was fourth on the speed charts in both practice sessions and then qualified the No. 16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry third quickest. In the race, he slipped back to ninth – where he remained for most of the event before fading near the finish.

Drake, making his series debut, qualified the No. 15 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota Camry in 14th – after being 10th in the first practice session and 16th in the final session. He also dropped back in the early stages of the event, but came on strong to finish in the top 15.

Staropoli, also making his series debut, was fifth in the first practice and seventh in final practice. Although he qualified 24th, Staropoli was able to work his way to the front in the No. 99 PEAK Toyota Camry and just missed the top 10 in a late-race charge.

Prior to qualifying, a group from a New Smyrna NAPA AUTO PARTS store got the opportunity to meet the BMR drivers and pose for pictures with the three cars during a special autograph session.

The New Smyrna 150 presented by JEGS will be broadcast on FOX Sports 1 at 9 a.m. ET on Saturday, Feb. 22.

From New Smyrna, all three BMR teams are headed to nearby Daytona Beach to compete in the second annual UNOH Battle At The Beach on Tuesday.

Drake – an 18-year-old former open-wheel competitor from Mooresville, N.C. – will contend for this year’s Sunoco Rookie of the Year Award in the K&N East. McReynolds, 22, also from Mooresville, will be racing full-time in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West, which opens its 2014 season at Phoenix International Raceway on Feb. 27. Staropoli, 24, of Plantation, Fla., is set to race in select K&N events this season for BMR.
